Changing your OSS registration data: what to report where, and by when

Registered in the OSS and got a new bank account, email address or website? Report the change to the BZSt electronically by the tenth day of the month after the change. A change of company name, tax number or address goes only to your tax office.

Last updated: 29 October 2026

In short

  • To the BZSt: Email, bank details, contact person, website and permanent establishments, in the BZStOnline portal (BZSt: One-Stop-Shop, German).
  • To the tax office: Company name, tax number and address.
  • Deadline: The tenth day of the month after the change.

What do I change with the BZSt?

The BZSt names email address, bank details, details of the contact person, website and permanent establishments or facilities as examples. In the BZStOnline portal there is a change form under "Formulare" (forms).

Important: when you change something, you enter all registration data as they currently stand, not only the changed field.

What this means for you: Have all current details ready before you fill in the form.

What does only the tax office handle?

The BZSt writes: changes of the company name, the tax number and the address are to be reported exclusively to the competent tax office. So you do not report them through the change form in the BZStOnline portal.

What this means for you: If you move or rename your business, you report it to your tax office, not through the OSS change form.

By when must I report it?

By the tenth day of the month that follows the change of circumstances at the latest. Two examples:

Change onReport to the BZSt by
12 March10 April
31 May10 June

What this means for you: Put the date in your calendar on the day of the change.

Why does the right email matter?

In the OSS the BZSt communicates exclusively through the BZStOnline portal (reminders, replies). It recommends switching on the notification function in the portal. Only then do you see messages in time. Anyone who repeatedly fails to meet the obligations on time can be excluded under section 18j(6) UStG. More: Exclusion from the OSS.

What this means for you: After every email change, check that the portal notification still reaches you.

What if I deregister?

Duties remain after deregistration. For periods in which you were registered you must still submit a return, and amounts due must still be paid. The BZSt also writes that registration data must be changed within three years after the deregistration takes effect. How deregistration works: Deregister from the OSS.

What this means for you: Keep your data up to date after deregistering as well.
